Gene Mancuso, a dedicated educational leader, celebrates a remarkable milestone as he embarks on his 12th year at the helm of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District. His unwavering commitment to student success, innovative leadership, and tireless advocacy for public education have left an indelible mark on the HF-L district.
A Proven Leader
Mancuso embarked on his educational journey in 1991, wearing various hats including that of a teacher, coach, and administrator in both Maryland and New York. Throughout his career, fostering student growth and creating a nurturing environment has been the driving force behind his impactful career.
Champion for Children
Since assuming the role of Superintendent of HF-L CSD on March 1, 2013, Mancuso has been a steadfast advocate for children and public education. His student-centered approach revolves around providing multiple opportunities for every student to reach their potential. He firmly believes that education should empower students not only academically but also emotionally, helping them feel good about themselves and their learning journey.
Transforming Tradition into Modern Excellence
Mancuso’s tenure has witnessed significant transformations. Under his guidance, historic school buildings have been revitalized into modern, bright, and technologically advanced learning spaces. The ongoing capital projects focus on classroom modernization, creating unique creative areas where students can explore skills, processes, and production that will shape their future.
Navigating Challenges with Grace
Leading during a global pandemic required exceptional resilience. Mancuso adeptly steered the district through the complexities of in-person, hybrid, and remote instruction. His collaborative approach ensured that students continued to receive quality education while prioritizing their safety and well-being. As one of the few districts in NYS to have every student in grades K-6 attend school every day as schools reopened, Mancuso relied on community involvement, staff ideas, and outstanding advocacy from the Board of Education and beyond.
Safety First
Safety remains a constant priority. Mancuso worked closely with the community and staff to establish robust technological and physical safety measures. Mental health support, including school social workers and drug counseling, was funded to address individual student challenges and prevent wider tragedies, and the District has added student support partners, and currently has a school resource deputy as a new resource at Lima Primary.
A Vision for Tomorrow
Mancuso balances tradition with forward-thinking vision. His commitment to innovative solutions includes one-to-one computing devices, robust learning management systems, and professional development opportunities for growth for all staff. The goal is to equip students and families with the tools they need to meet rigorous learning standards and to create a district of choice for all those who call HF-L home.
A Legacy of Excellence
As Mancuso enters his 12th year, the Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District continues to thrive under his leadership. His legacy is one of excellence, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the students, staff, and community.
Congratulations, Superintendent Gene Mancuso, on this remarkable milestone! Here’s to many more years of shaping young minds and building a brighter future for all.
